Baby Makes Three

Today is the day! I finally get to meet my baby boy face to face. I am both terrified and excited all at the same time. There is no turning back now. My c-section is scheduled for noon. I slept better than I thought I would last night, which is good because this may be the last good sleep I see for a while. Jeremy and I get up around 8 am. I get up and take a shower and do my hair and makeup. One of the great things about having a scheduled c-section, you are prepared for it. No rushing to the hospital in the middle of the night. We arrive at the hospital around 10 am. They have me change into a hospital gown, hook me up to a fetal monitor and put in my IV. To my surprise I am having some contractions. They have Jeremy put on some scrubs. He actually has to wear the heavy duty scrubs like the surgeons wear on his feet because he ripped the regular ones trying to get them on. At noon they roll me into a very cold, very bright operating room. By this point I am really trying hard not to freak out. The anesthesiologist gives me a spinal block (which by the way is not at all as bad as I expected) and I can’t move or feel anything below my waist. They bring Jeremy in and 20 minutes later, Jack is here. He comes out squealing like a little pig. It was actually kind of funny. They take him, clean him off and do all of the routine checks. I can hear all of these things going on, but I still haven’t seen him yet. They weigh him, and I hear the nurse say he is 5 lbs. 11 ½ ounces. I can’t believe he is so tiny. They finally bring him over and show him to me and I can’t do anything but cry. He is just the most precious thing that I have ever seen. I am just so in love with him already.

What's in a name?

Why am I having such a hard time committing to a name? I bet I have been through the baby name book a dozen times and I keep writing down the same names, but I just can’t decide. Our top four consists of Jack, Caleb, Daniel and Joshua. I told Jeremy he could pick the middle name, so it will either be Gilman (Jeremy and his Dad’s middle name) or Edward (Jeremy’s Grandfather’s name and his Uncle Eddie who passed away). We have just been calling him Baby ‘G’ for now.
