Merry Christmas

We had a great Christmas. Toys! Toys! And more Toys! I think we need an extra bedroom just to put all of the new toys Jack got for Christmas. He was such a good boy. I think we did Christmas for 4 days. We are all worn out. Glad Jeremy has Monday off so we can rest up.

Friday, Lunch

We went to my Grandmothers on Friday to see my cousin Stephanie and her family. They live in Virginia and were starting the trip back home after lunch. My Grandmother had fixed lunch for us, and she kept insisting that I get a plate of food for Jack. I kept telling her that he can’t eat that food. The only thing he eats is very thin pureed baby food. Well, a couple of minutes later she comes in the dining room with a plate of mashed potatoes, a stewed carrot and some squash. Again, I try to explain to her nicely; he can’t eat that. She insists that he have a bite of mashed potatoes, so she gets a big spoonful and feeds it to him. He makes a horrible face and starts coughing and gagging. Now, I know my grandmother has raised six kids and she was only trying to help, but sometimes Mother just knows best. Lol Anyway, it was good spending time with family.

Friday, Dinner

We had our family ‘Game Night’ on Friday night. We call it ‘Game Night’ because when my sister and I were little we would exchange the gifts we bought each other and give my Mom and Dad their gifts from us. My Mom would let us open one Christmas present from her and my Dad, which was always a game. This year Aunt Nee and Uncle Mike crashed our ‘Game Night’ and we had an awesome time. We played ‘Wits and Wagers’, ‘Zero’, and ‘Uno Robot’. Lots of fun!

Saturday, Dinner

We went back to my Grandmothers for Christmas Eve. Lots of food and fun. We played ‘Dirty Santa’. I ended up stealing the gift I brought.

Sunday, Morning

Jack woke up about 6:30 on Christmas morning. He liked unwrapping his presents, but I think Jeremy and I were more excited about it than he was. He got a walker, a little dragon that pops balls in the air, a baseball toy, a star tower, and a Memphis tiger pillow pet.

Sunday, Lunch

My parents for Christmas morning. As usual, my Mom goes way overboard with the gifts on Christmas. This year my Mom took Hadlee and Canaan to buy Christmas gifts for everyone. Hadlee didn’t quite catch on, so my Mom and Sister ended up picking out most of her gifts. They bought my Dad a tin of mixed nuts. She gave them to my Dad and he said ‘Oh Hadlee, I wonder what this could be’, she replied ‘It is peanuts, Pop.’

Sunday, Dinner
Jeremy’s parents for dinner. Toys! Toys! Toys! Where am I going to put all of this?

I think Jack had a pretty good 1st Christmas!

The Enchanted Forest

Today we took the kids to the Pink Palace to see the Enchanted Forest.  Jack just loves spending time with his cousins.  After the forest, we watched 'Santa vs. the Snowman' on the IMAX.  I wasn't sure how Jack was going to do in the movie, but he actually watched most of it before he fell asleep at the end.  It was a good day!

Go Tigers Go!

Jack went to his first Memphis Tigers basketball game tonight. He has his earmuffs on to block out some of the noise. The tigers didn’t win this game, but we had a good time anyway. Go Tigers Go!

Christmas City

Saturday night Jeremy, Jennifer, Mom and I took the kids to see Christmas City. It’s been a couple of years since I’ve been, but it always brings back fond memories of Christmas when I was a child. Always one of the best parts about Christmas City is that we got to unbuckle our seatbelts and get out of our seats so we could see the lights better.

I was afraid Jack was going to fall asleep on the way over and sleep through the whole think, but surprisingly he did not. He had the best time. He was in awe of all the lights. He got really quiet and his eyes got really big and every once in a while he would jump up and down.

Hadlee got up in the front in my Mom’s lap and tried to steer the van.

Canaan was trying to video the whole ride on his iPod touch.

We had lots of fun.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today was Thanksgiving and also Jack's 6 month birthday.  I can't believe it's been 1/2 a year already.  His Meme got him a little cake and a present to celebrate.

We went to Memaw's for lunch and completely stuffed ourselves.  The next day we drove to Jeremy's parents lake house and spent the weekend there.

Baby Food

Jack had his first taste of real baby food today. For several weeks now, he has been really watching us when we eat. It kind of makes me feel bad to eat in front of him. He looks at me like ‘Where’s mine Mommy?’ He’s just a week shy of six months, so today I decided he was ready to eat real baby food. I choose green peas for his first meal. For the first bite, he made sort of a weird face and gaged a little bit. It was not what he was expecting at all. I’m guessing green peas are not going to be his favorite. He did pretty well after that and ate a good bit. Hopefully, with a full belly, he will sleep through the night, but I’m not going to hold my breath.

Saying Goodbye

After working almost 13 years at the same place, I have decided to quit my job and become a full time Mom. Although I will miss my friends (and my salary), I feel in my heart this is the right thing to do. I have been fretting over this decision since I found out I was pregnant, but I think I always knew what my final choice would be. I am excited to start this new journey, and I want to thank my husband and the good Lord for giving me the opportunity. To all of my work friends, I will truly miss you, and I hope that we can keep in touch.

Happy Halloween

This was Jack’s first Halloween. He’s was the cutest little spider I’ve ever seen. We went to trick or treat Memaw and Jessica first. We came back home, and my sister, Matt, Canaan and Hadlee came over to trick or treat. Hadlee was so cute. She kept running up to every door saying ‘I want to push the button’. I think she had more fun ringing the doorbell than getting candy. Cannan kept trying not to hit people with his light saber or light saver as he calls it, and Jack just loves being outside, so he had fun too.

Mom Brain

I just discovered there is a huge difference between whipping cream and whipped cream.  I'm sorry to say this only occurred to me after I ruined dinner.  This is not the first time I've had 'Mom Brain'.  A couple of weeks ago I covered my dish with saran wrap and put it in the oven.  It melted all over our dinner.  I guess it's Chinese takeout again.  :-(

Roll Over

Jack has learned a new trick.  He has discovered how to roll from front to back.  Now every time we put him down, he has to roll over.  He just can't help himself.
