9 Months Old

Well, I know it’s been quite a while since I updated my blog. It’s been so hard to find time during the day and after Jack goes to bed I’m usually so worn out I don’t feel like doing anything. So, Jack is 9 months old. I can’t believe how time flies. Here’s an update as to what he is doing at 9 months.

· He weighs 17 lbs. 6 oz. and is in the 25% for his height & weight. (He’s a bit on the small side.)
· He got his first tooth about 3 weeks ago.
· He is crawling all over the place and pulls up on everything.
· He is one of the most ticklish babies I’ve ever been around.
· He can wave bye-bye.
· He loves to be outside, and I think our walk after dinner is his favorite part of the day.
· He still won’t eat anything but very pureed baby food. When I give him little star snacks or pieces of banana, he acts like he is chocking.

Happy Birthday Hadlee Jane!

Today is my niece’s third birthday. I can’t believe she is 3 already. It seems like just yesterday I was driving to the hospital to see her after she was born. Here are some funny thinks she says that I thought I would write down in honor of her birthday.

*Hadlee told Jennifer that Jack was her best friend.  Awww!

*Hadlee took all of Jacks toys away from him the other day, and when my Mom asked her what she was doing she told her she was taking them away because ‘He will spit puke on them’.

*A couple of months ago, when it snowed, Canaan was playing out it the snow with a neighbor. Hadlee asked my Mom ‘Is that Brother Bear outside?’. (She calls Canaan ‘Brother Bear’.) My Mom told her yes. Then she asked my Mom ‘Is that me outside?’

*The other day my sister went through the drive through at McDonald's and got a snack for the kids and one Dr. Pepper for the both of them to share. I guess Canaan wasn’t sharing the drink with her as much as she though he should, and she told her Mom ‘This is ridiculous… I don’t have a drink.’

Oh how I love that girl! Happy Birthday to my sweet Hadlee Jane!

Call the Doctor

Jack had his first experience with sickness this week. He woke up Monday morning with a cough. I called the doctor immediately, thinking he has something horrible. I spoke to the nurse who assured me he was okay and from the symptoms I described, just had a little cold or virus. Nothing to do but give him Tylenol and keep the humidifier going. I think he’s done very well to go for 7 months without getting sick. He is feeling much better today, but we can’t say the same for Daddy.

Merry Christmas

We had a great Christmas. Toys! Toys! And more Toys! I think we need an extra bedroom just to put all of the new toys Jack got for Christmas. He was such a good boy. I think we did Christmas for 4 days. We are all worn out. Glad Jeremy has Monday off so we can rest up.

Friday, Lunch

We went to my Grandmothers on Friday to see my cousin Stephanie and her family. They live in Virginia and were starting the trip back home after lunch. My Grandmother had fixed lunch for us, and she kept insisting that I get a plate of food for Jack. I kept telling her that he can’t eat that food. The only thing he eats is very thin pureed baby food. Well, a couple of minutes later she comes in the dining room with a plate of mashed potatoes, a stewed carrot and some squash. Again, I try to explain to her nicely; he can’t eat that. She insists that he have a bite of mashed potatoes, so she gets a big spoonful and feeds it to him. He makes a horrible face and starts coughing and gagging. Now, I know my grandmother has raised six kids and she was only trying to help, but sometimes Mother just knows best. Lol Anyway, it was good spending time with family.

Friday, Dinner

We had our family ‘Game Night’ on Friday night. We call it ‘Game Night’ because when my sister and I were little we would exchange the gifts we bought each other and give my Mom and Dad their gifts from us. My Mom would let us open one Christmas present from her and my Dad, which was always a game. This year Aunt Nee and Uncle Mike crashed our ‘Game Night’ and we had an awesome time. We played ‘Wits and Wagers’, ‘Zero’, and ‘Uno Robot’. Lots of fun!

Saturday, Dinner

We went back to my Grandmothers for Christmas Eve. Lots of food and fun. We played ‘Dirty Santa’. I ended up stealing the gift I brought.

Sunday, Morning

Jack woke up about 6:30 on Christmas morning. He liked unwrapping his presents, but I think Jeremy and I were more excited about it than he was. He got a walker, a little dragon that pops balls in the air, a baseball toy, a star tower, and a Memphis tiger pillow pet.

Sunday, Lunch

My parents for Christmas morning. As usual, my Mom goes way overboard with the gifts on Christmas. This year my Mom took Hadlee and Canaan to buy Christmas gifts for everyone. Hadlee didn’t quite catch on, so my Mom and Sister ended up picking out most of her gifts. They bought my Dad a tin of mixed nuts. She gave them to my Dad and he said ‘Oh Hadlee, I wonder what this could be’, she replied ‘It is peanuts, Pop.’

Sunday, Dinner
Jeremy’s parents for dinner. Toys! Toys! Toys! Where am I going to put all of this?

I think Jack had a pretty good 1st Christmas!

The Enchanted Forest

Today we took the kids to the Pink Palace to see the Enchanted Forest.  Jack just loves spending time with his cousins.  After the forest, we watched 'Santa vs. the Snowman' on the IMAX.  I wasn't sure how Jack was going to do in the movie, but he actually watched most of it before he fell asleep at the end.  It was a good day!

Go Tigers Go!

Jack went to his first Memphis Tigers basketball game tonight. He has his earmuffs on to block out some of the noise. The tigers didn’t win this game, but we had a good time anyway. Go Tigers Go!

Christmas City

Saturday night Jeremy, Jennifer, Mom and I took the kids to see Christmas City. It’s been a couple of years since I’ve been, but it always brings back fond memories of Christmas when I was a child. Always one of the best parts about Christmas City is that we got to unbuckle our seatbelts and get out of our seats so we could see the lights better.

I was afraid Jack was going to fall asleep on the way over and sleep through the whole think, but surprisingly he did not. He had the best time. He was in awe of all the lights. He got really quiet and his eyes got really big and every once in a while he would jump up and down.

Hadlee got up in the front in my Mom’s lap and tried to steer the van.

Canaan was trying to video the whole ride on his iPod touch.

We had lots of fun.
